Seder Leil Shabbat v'Havdalah
The Sabbath Seder and Havdalah
Commonly referred to as: The Sabbath Manual

For those that wish to keep and observe the Sabbath in their own home, this manual is indispensable. It is full of commentary that explains not only how, but why one does the things that one does during the Sabbath Seder.

It begins with the candle lighting and then progresses to the
first of the three Sabbath meals. The Friday night meal is the most elegant and deals mainly with the advent of the Messianic Kingdom. With the first meal one welcomes the angels to the Sabbath and then blesses the children with the Aaronic benediction. After this the man of the house blesses his wife with the reciting of Mishlei (Proverbs) 10.10-31. Next the leader acknowledges that the
Sabbath has been set apart by G-d with the recitation of Kiddush.

After Kiddush the hands are washed and the challah is salted and passed around for all to receive a piece. The meal is then eaten and all should discuss the things of G-d and many will break out in songs special to the Sabbath.

The Sabbath morning and afternoon meals are also laid out in this manual. At the back are found the z'mirot (songs) for each of the meals of the Sabbath as well as general songs. The Sabbath is concluded with a small service called Havdalah, which means separation. In this service we acknowledge that the Sabbath is completed and we are entering into the average days.

The manual is written in Hebrew and English on facing pages. It is designed for both the beginner and the most adherent Sabbath observer. 137
pages, comb bound. $10.95
